Places to Visit during Umrah in Makkah

 Makkah is the holiest city and mother of all cities, as it is the birthplace of last Islamic Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and represents the Holy House of Allah “the Kaaba”. Muslims from all over the world gather at Makkah to carry out blessed compulsions of minor and major pilgrimage every year. And during their holy spree, they want to visit the other historical and pilgrimage places of Islamic history. The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had spent a major phase of his life in Makkah.  It would not be wrong to say that the city is one of the most visited cities. There are many important places in Makkah to visit during your Umrah tour we make a list of places that you can’t miss during your Umrah trip. Umrah packages 2023 are now available. Many travel companies are now offering Umrah packages for 2023 as we are a few months away from 2023. Also, Ramadan Umrah packages are vacant, book now before they are unavailable.

Masjid Al Haram

The House of Allah is the largest Mosque, Masjid e Haram or Grand Mosque where Muslims gather to perform Umrah and Hajj. The biggest annual gathering    occurs in this holy place during Hajj. Al-Haram is the first place to visit in Makkah. It is the House of Allah, where Muslims are a guest of Allah and Allah is the host. The centre of Al-Haram Mosque is the holy Kaaba a cuboid-shaped structure. The beautiful Mosque houses other significant objects such as the Wall of Zamzam, Muqam-E-Ibrahim AS, the Black Stone, and the two magnificent hills Safa and Marwah.

Mina (The City of Tents)

Mina is a valley 3 miles east away from Makkah where more than 100,000 air-conditioned tents are retained for pilgrims during Hajj. The Jamarat Bridge is located in the valley of Mina where pilgrims perform another ritual of Hajj Rami ‘throwing stone at the devil’.

Muzdalifah

One more sanctified place in Makkah, Muzdalifah is within the province of Makkah. It is a plain smooth land to be found between Mina and Arafat. Spending an entire day at Muzdalifah is a major ritual of the hajj. Pilgrims sleep under the open sky in Muzdalifah and wake up early for prayers. The night stay under the open sky signifies everyone is equal in the eyes of Allah. There is a sacred mosque which is known as the Sacred Grove it is an open-roofed Mosque at the top of a hill in Muzdalifah.

Cave Hira (Mount Al Noor)

The prominent cave of Hira is where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ received the initial revelation of the Quran in 610 BC and which initiated his journey of prophethood. The cave is located at Mount Al Noor, also known as Jabal Al Noor because of the mysterious light that shines on the mountain at night. Prophet ﷺ used to meditate in an isolated place, once he ﷺ was staying in the cave when Angel Gabriel appeared and revealed the first ever message of Allah to His beloved Prophet.

Well of Tuwa

The well known as Bir Tuwa, it is found in one of the valleys of Makkah that was once out-of-the-way and jagged but is now crammed with buildings. Bir Tuwa is located in jarwal, called Tuwa. The holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ spent a night here before the conquest of Makkah, and in the morning he took a bath from the water of this well and entered Makkah. The word ‘Tuwa’ means the pleated well. The famous well is located at the bottom of Makkah in the north.

Factory of Kiswah at Umm Al-Jud

The well-known factory of the Kiswah cloth (that covers the Holy Kabah) Kiswah is manufactured. Kiswah is the well-regarded cover, an extremely valued cloth in the Holy Mosque that you would love to see how it is made while visiting the holy city of Makkah. Kiswah passed over quite a lot of changes during history due to monetary and societal factors.

Mosque Aisha

Mosque Aisha or Mosque Taneem is located just 4.6 miles south of Makkah. The holy mosque is nearby to all boundary points. It is marked as a place where Hazrat Aisha RA announced that pilgrims need to wear Ihram to perform Umrah when Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked her to enter the state of Ihram during the farewell, Hajj.

Al Wahba Crater

Its unique place is in Makkah, located on the way to the northeast of the city. The 1-mile-long crater is surrounded by 900-foot rugged precipices. It was once a place for volcanic eruptions that now turned into a hiking zone with heaps of palm trees sideways the cliffs. The bottom of the cliff gets filled with water during the rainy season and turns into a salt pan in summer.

Jannat-ul-Mualla

The sacred cemetery is located 10 minutes walking distance from Hoy Mosque, where many of the Prophet’s family members and companions are buried. The grave of Khadija RA (the first wife of the Prophet ﷺ), Qasim (son of Muhammad ﷺ), Abdullah Bin Zubair, Abu Talib, Bint Abu Bakar and other members of the Prophet’s family are found there. Everyone can visit the graves and pay their reverence to the honourable people of Islam.

Auction House Makkah

Makkah Auction House is a worth visiting place in the city located in the Hilton Tower. Here you can see the ancient gems, exceptional artefacts and many other mesmerizing and interesting things. This Auction House gives you the vibe of a shopping centre where you can see people bidding on appealing things.

Mount Abu Qubays

The massive Mount Abu Qubays is located adjacent to Mount Safa. According to the theories, this is the sacred place from where the miracle of splitting the moon happened when the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ pointed His finger towards the moon was torn apart in half. For Muslims, this famous incident grasps deep spiritual connotation and pilgrims love to visit this blessed spot. This beautiful miracle is stated in the Quran in Chapter Al-Qamar.

Site of Battle of Badr

The battle of Badr is one of the most important battles in the history of Islam and also in the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as He and His followers were fighting for true religion against the Makkah’s pagan groups. They were just a handful in number but fought courageously against the large, well-trained and well-equipped defence force. The battle of Badr is also stated in the Holy Quran. It was battled in the Hejaz region of western Arabia in 624 CE. The historical place where this battle occurred is must visit place in Makkah, located 334km away from the city.

Al Ji’ranah Mosque

This beautiful yet very important place regarding one of the Hajj rituals is now turned into a stunning white mosque known as Ji’ranah Mosque. It is situated in northern Makkah and a place where the Holy Prophet ﷺ entered the state of Ihram before travelling towards Makkah for the performance of Hajj. The sacred site was surrounded by many palm trees and wells that overlook the mosque. You might need an authorization letter from authorities to visit this mosque.

Thawr Mountain

The ancient mount is located at the southern end of the holy Makkah. The consecrated mountain holds massive significance in Islamic history as this is the place where our beloved Prophet ﷺ spent 3 days in a cave known as Cave Thawr. He ﷺ hid here with his most trusted companion and beloved friend Abu Bakar Siddique RA after the tyranny in Makkah.

Maktab Makkah-Al-Makkarmah

The most blessed place after Al-Haram and Prophet’s mosque and Al-Aqsa has to be where the last Islamic Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was given birth. The house of Abdul-Muttalib where Muhammad ﷺ was born now converted into a library is a small building located in the northeast of the Al-Haram. The distance can be covered by walking. It is a place you must visit when you stop over Makkah.
